1960s Production Saloons
My father, Gaylord 'Gay' Parker began racing in the early in 1960s, originally competing in hillclimbs and sprints.
By 1965, Gay was racing in Production Saloons with his Austin Mini Cooper S 970cc, regularly racing at Brands Hatch and Mallory Park with drivers such as Ginger Marshal, Peter Baldwin and Don Law. He continued to race his Mini Cooper S until 1971, when he took a break from racing.

In 1977, Gay returned to racing. With sponsorship from British Leyland dealership BEWAC, Gay entered the Mini 7 850cc Championship with his mechanic friend Arthur Brown. He raced in this championship until he retired from racing at the age of 50.
